Head Coach Matt Weston had this to say of Dixon, "I am really pleased to be signing a player of his potential. Richard's a player destined to not only be in the roster, but to also earn a starting spot with this team. I was excited to see a guy of his quality at the invitational tryouts. As a player with good technical ability and athleticism he really suites the system that VSI Tampa Bay FC will be playing this season."

Director of Soccer, Clay Roberts had this to say of the trials and Dixon's signing, "We were extremely excited about the overall talent that showed at our invitational trial this past weekend at St Leo University. There were a number of veteran players from the MLS and USL Pro as well as young players looking to fulfill their dream of signing as a professional. We are thrilled to add Richard to the VSI Tampa Bay FC roster. Richard's technical ability, athleticism, along with his versatility as a rookie helps add depth to an already seasoned roster. His approach to the game and tactical understanding proves he is far more developed than a first-year player. We anticipate him challenging for minutes from day one."

When asked during the invitational trials what his aspirations with VSI Tampa Bay FC were, Dixon said, "To hopefully get signed and hopefully help VSI to the top". VSI Tampa Bay FC is looking forward to the realization of Dixon's aspirations.
